If you live a life of make-believe, your life is not worth anything until you do something that does challenge your reality. And to me, sailing the open ocean is a real challenge, because it's life or death. I do believe that people do not determine the future, they determine habits and those habits determine the future that they are looking forward to.
I've learned so much in my 29 years of life, I come from Qumbu, in the Eastern Cape province. I was raised in a strong family, specifically by a strong mother. Life has taught me that when a parent dies, everything comes crashing down on you so hard that you may lose a step or two.
We lost our mother in the beginning of 2012, and at the time I was matriculating, I had to fight for a better pass because that was her wish. In 2013, I started my varsity studies at the North West University Mafikeng Campus. I've always been fascinated by computer studies; I fell in love with how they make life easier, and most of the people who had problems in high school and among my family and friends never seem to comprehend the fundamentals of these devices; fortunately for them, I was there to help.
In the years 2016 and 2017, I graduated for my Bachelor’s Degree and Honours in Information Systems. In the year 2018, I had to use the rest of the inheritance funds that my mother had left behind to try make a living, because finding a job in the world we live in isn’t easy. I bought my self a brand new Toyota Avana, which was to either operate as a shuttle or school transport. Somethings in life will automatically find you. In the year 2019, on the opening of schools, the children that I was transporting to school, I had to ditch them, due to the fact that some lame driver did not use a stop sign and came running straight at my car. That is when I starting learning that life can be very short no matter how hard you try. However, I have worked in the IT industry as a LAN and Desktop Support Technician, as well as an Education Management Information Systems Intern within the Department of Education (UGU District) for two years (06-2020 to 05-2022).
In 2020, my fiancée and I found out we were pregnant. We have never felt so blessed and happy in our lives. It has certainly been a difficult journey, but we have overcome the pandemic and stayed strong. As a father, I wanted to be with my pregnant half during this time...to be there as a father from the beginning. Unfortunately COVID 19 did not allow this. beginning. Although we could see a bright future with or without a pandemic. Our little angel was born on December 7, 2020. Since then, I knew I had to make it for her and her mother. I think some things related to earning a living for your career and family aren't necessarily silver platters. After a contract with the Ministry of Education, you have to drive a school bus to earn a living. did not. Life was not safe at all for me and my schoolchildren at that time. Riding in an unsafe car with a child was definitely a life challenge, but I had no choice but to live it.
Starting in September 2022, the Margate Health Consortium has presented me with an opportunity I may not want to pass up. I embraced the opportunity and the challenge with both hands and started building websites and researching IT related issues within the organization. I had the opportunity to work closely with IESHER and their team. I believe one day my team and I will be able to look back and say that we have created a brighter future for our boys and our country as a whole.
I understand that this is an evolving field and I am persistent in improving myself to meet the demands of this field. In my previous job, I was responsible for the day-to-day tasks of doing my best in data management, data review, and data quality observation to ensure data validation progress. We also arranged and executed support related to application program capacity, peripherals, connectivity, operating system and hardware device capabilities, and accurately documented all technical specifications.
