The IESHER Fellowship Programme
The fellows’ program is an IESHER flagship that seeks to recruit and nurture talented graduates particularly in the rural areas. Fellows are empowered with capability for personal and career development and to uplift communities that are struggling with poverty.
Desirable qualities include: Understanding the greater purpose, willingness to change unproductive habits, enterprising and bold yet humble; independent and original, sharp, agile, incisive, precise, focused, strategic and flexible thinking; alacrity at problem solving, leadership, scholarship, teamwork, discipline, integrity, respect for governance, probity and work ethic and culture, competence at time management and prioritising and willingness to learn and teach; inquiring, questioning, critical, creative and innovative, reflective, willingness to research, IT savvy and aspiration for high standards
An IESHER Fellow is an aspiring postgraduate who:
Is passionate about delving into the social ills that have laid waste to parts of South African society.
Aims to innovatively utilise their postgraduate studies for the creation of public value in South Africa.
Has an ethos that aligns with the needs of vulnerable citizens in this country.
Is willing to aid IESHER in tackling issues surrounding social justice, equality, unemployment, and keeping our institutions accountable.
Can envision and realise practical applications for the research they conduct.
Towards this goal, IESHER will either partially or fully fund its Fellows’ postgraduate studies through our Bursary Programme.
