Silindukuphiwa Mbongwe

"The future belongs to those who believe in the future of their dreams" is a quote by Anthun Asha. As individuals, we all grew up having dreams, goals, and a time expectation of achieving these goals. Growing up, I used to picture myself as the character Sindy Dlathu played in a soap opera that my older sister used to watch called Muvhango; to this day, I still see myself as a businesswoman that owns her very own company.

My name is Silindukuphiwa Ntombizethu Mbongwe (Slindo); I am a twenty-five-year-old passionate, disciplined, goal-driven, and hard-working individual. I was born in a small town on the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal called Margate on the 23 of November 1995. I am the second born of a very talented and loved language teacher that would be a short description of my father and the most professional and dedicated Mathematics teacher that would be my mother. One of the things I would consider as a blessing is growing up in a family that values education so much that they motivated me to have dreams, aim high, and never give up on things I wish to achieve in the future. My dad always quotes these words “there is a light at the end of the tunnel; all you need to do is dream big and go hard," and that is what I plan to do.

I attended my foundation schooling at Margate primary school where life was not only about academics but also sports, I was part of a team B netball team which was my platform to distress, have fun and learn to be focused and be a team member that wanted nothing more but to win. In 2010 I began my High school journey at Port Shepstone High School that is where I grew my love for Accounting through my grade 10 teacher Mrs. Smith in 2012, it was the way she taught that made me fall in love with making and handling money and becoming an Accountant one day. The plan was to study Bcom Accounting after completing grade 12, but destiny had its plans.  I got accepted into a township University called Mangosuthu University of Technology to do a National Diploma in Accounting; I completed this qualification in 2018. However, I felt I still needed to study further to achieve my goals of being an Accountant and owning my own business. I decided to pursue a BTECH in Cost and Management Accounting. Completing this qualification was the biggest challenge of my life because, in the final year, the country faced a pandemic that slowed everything down, and studying from home was very hard. Still, nothing could stop me because once I start something, I make sure I complete it, and that is what I did I finished it.

My focus is to gain as much experience as possible to improve my career path in Accounting and improve business-wise. I want to be part of business ideas that involve purchasing abandoned properties in the urban area, fixing them up as residential buildings, then renting them out to students that are in both public and private institutions.  I also plan to provide leases for those who seek places close to their work environments and looking for land in rural areas to build commercial buildings that can be leased out for people who need space for business purposes after five years of sale.

I believe being part of IESHER will help me achieve the ideas mentioned above through Property solutions.  It will also allow me to grow in a company that will continue to allow me to learn and contribute as much value as I can.  Once I have gained that experience, I would like to move up the job ranks and possibly become an expert in property solutions and hopefully opening my estate agency in the future. So, it would be an excellent opportunity to be part of it.
